The Johor State Islamic Religious Council handed over 1.3 M -Mosque to Muslim Cambodia in Cham Leu Village, Koh Thom District, Kandal Province.

Kandal:  A high-level delegation of the Johor State Islamic Religious Council, Malaysia, led by  YB Tuan Mohd Fared bin Khalid, Chairman of Islamic Religious Affairs Committee as the delegates consist of the Director General of Islamic Development of Johor, Mufti, Director of the Department of Islamic Development, Adviser, and other senior officials from the Johor state attended the handover ceremony of Darul Tazim Mosque located in Cham Leu Village, Prek Thmey Commune, Koh Thom District, Kandal Province. The ceremony was also held in the honorable presence of Oknha Sos Kamrey, Head of the Highest Council for Islamic Affairs Cambodian (Mufti Cambodia) I, and a large crowd on the morning of August 1, 2022.

On that occasion, His Excellency Dr. Hosen Mohamad Farrid, Advisor of the Ministry of Cults and Religions and President of the Cambodian Muslim Intellectual Allaince (CMIA), who implemented the project to build the mosque, said that the Darul Tazim Mosque has two stories with the size 23m x 52m and able to accommodate a total of 3,000 worshipers and the total construction cost of more than 1 million and 3 million US dollars.

His Excellency joined in congratulating all the Muslims in Cham Leu village who received the second largest Mosque after the Al-Sarkal Mosque in Phnom Penh. This Project started under the efforts of himself and his colleagues in 2015, with His Excellency Chao Tol, Deputy Director of Samdech Prime Minister Cabinet as the Honorary Chairman of the Construction Committee and His Excellency Brigadier General Lalay, Commander of the Takeo Provincial Gendarmerie, is also the Chairman of the Construction Commission, He added.

Dr. Farid also thanked all the benefactors, especially the Johor state Islamic Religious Council, and all the donors including Excellency Chao Tol himself who contributed to the construction of the mosque until it is completed.

At the same time, on behalf of His Excellency Chao Tol, the Honorary Chairman of the Construction Committee of Darul Tazim Mosque, His Excellency Brigadier General La Lay, Commander of the Takeo Provincial Gendarmerie and Chairman of the Construction Committee had Thank Allah and all the donors and benefactors who have contributed to the construction of these large mosques for the people of Cambodia, especially The Johor States Islamic  Religious Council, which has funded the construction of the mosque through the Cambodian Muslim Intellectual Alliance in collaboration with the Islamic Council for Development of Cambodia.

His Excellency added that under the wise leadership of t Government of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Cambodian people have the full right to and freedom of religious practice and the construction of religious infrastructures such as schools and mosques. As we have seen great achievements today. The rights, freedoms of beliefs, and especially peace are really important and valuable in making our Islam grow as it is today, La Lay cited.

YB Tuan Mohamad Farid Bin Mohamad Khalid, Chairman of the Islamic Religious Affairs Committee on behalf of the Johor State Islamic Religious Council, also celebrated and congratulate the completion of the project with the support and assistance of the mosque from various philanthropists, especially praise and thanks to His Excellency Hosen Mohamad Farid and the construction committee who implemented the project successfully. His Excellency hopes that this mosque will benefit the Cambodian Muslim people in practicing religion and he was very proud to see the achievement.

Dato Nooh Bin Gadut, Advisor to Johor State Islamic Council also joined in the celebration with the Cambodian Muslims in Cham Leu village for this great achievement. He called on the villagers to take good care of the mosque and keep our faith strong along the path of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah.

On the other hand, Mr. Sos Kamrey, Head of the Highest Council for Islamic Affairs Cambodian (Mufti Cambodia) who was honored to attend the handover ceremony of Darul Tazim Mosque, also expressed his happiness with the Cambodian Muslims in Cham Leu village. To receive The big and beautiful mosque, which can be said to be the second largest and most expensive one after the Al-Serkal Mosque in Phnom Penh.

Okhna Sos Kamry also expressed his deep gratitude to The Johor States, individual donors, and His Excellency Hosen Mohammad Farid who participated in the construction of this mosque and He also prayed to Allah to bless everyone. Other than that, he expressed his happiness that Dato Nooh Bin Gadut encouraged the Cambodian Muslims to take care of the mosque and especially to follow the path of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, which is more expensive than the cost of the Mosque.
